The attainment of sustained economic growth has been at the heart of Government of Dominica policy actions over the past fifteen years. The Government of Dominica has also accepted the fact that economic growth is not a sufficient condition for equitable development. It is for this reason that the Government has managed a large social protection system consisting of many programmes in social welfare, education, health and general public assistance.
